Mehmet Okur Announced His Retirement


33-year old Mehmet Okur, who had a solid NBA career while playing for three teams, announced his retirement from the game. Okur had been hooping in Europe. Per NTVSpor (via Sportando): “Last season Okur started with Turk Telekom Ankara averaging 12ppg and 8.2rpg in TBL. Whe [the] NBA lockout ended he returned to the States where he has played 17 games with the Nets scoring 7.6ppg and pulling down 4.8rpg. Okur decided to retire because of the injuries who affected him over the last three seasons of his career. ‘I want to thank my family, my coaches, my teammates, the officials who have contributed to my career. And then I want to say Thanks to the fans who always supported me’ said Okur.”
