The Orlando Magic will be starting the 2021-22 season short-handed.
Carter-Williams underwent surgery to remove a bone fragment in his left ankle, and his timetable to return to basketball activities is to be determined.
Carter-Williams joined the Magic in 2019 and has played in 88 games for Orlando, averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 assists per game. Last season Carter-Williams played in 31 games, starting 25 of them, and averaged 8.8 points, 4.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Over Carter-Williams’ eight seasons in the NBA, he has played for six teams and in 391 total games, averaging 10.3 points and 4.4 assists per game. Carter-Williams even won Rookie of the Year in 2013-14 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
