Mike Beasley Just Wants to Watch Chick Flicks in Peace

by Marcel Mutoni

B-Easy has yet to play an official NBA game (though he did perform admirably in Miami’s preseason opener), but this past summer his name has been in the news quite a bit, and with him being the top draft pick all eyes will be on the Heat rookie.

Which is a long-winded way of saying that his days of peacefully catching a sappy romantic comedy at the local drive-in are over.

From the Associated Press:

So on Saturday night, he left his new house in the Coconut Grove section of Miami, headed to a nearby theater and tried to get tickets for “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.” Small problem: Word of the Heat first-rounder’s presence leaked, and the 19-year-old was quickly mobbed by dozens of people.

“I don’t really see myself as a celebrity,” Beasley said.

Uh, yes you are. The general rule is that dudes with plans of winning MVP in their rookie years automatically qualify as celebs.
