Nets Acquire Landry Shamet in Three-Team Trade with Pistons, Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have acquired Luke Kennard from the Detroit Pistons in a three-team swap that will also see Landry Shamet make his way to the Brooklyn Nets, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The Pistons will received the No. 19 pick in tonight’s draft, which they will use on Saddiq Bey, and Rodney McGruder.

Kennard’s name has long been floated as a potential trade chip, he was almost dealt to the Phoenix Suns at the trade deadline last year. By dealing him away, Pistons general manager Troy Weaver will get a third first-round pick in tonight’s draft.

Detroit has already drafted Killian Hayes and Isaiah Stewart.

The move allows the Clippers to shed about $10 million while only bringing back Shamet’s $2.1 million cap hit, which could servre them well as they look to round out their squad for another run at a title in the West.

Later in the night, the Nets and Clippers swapped second-round picks. That may or may not be related to this transaction.
