New Contests!

By Sam Rubenstein

The new issue should be on newsstands and in mailboxes any day now, so the new contests are up on the site. Do your best.

I also just wanted to take this opportunity to point out that the winner of our Oden or Durant pick me contest was Tommy D from Silver Spring, MD. Looking back, the first few words of his entry are the ever so ominous “Assuming neither player gets injured…” Nice jinx. Here is the winning entry in its entirety:

Assuming neither player gets injured, Durant will have the better season. With Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen hitting the road, the Sonics will be depending on Durant to carry the team in scoring. Oden has more help with Aldridge, Roy, and the other players on a Blazers team that can generally boast more talent than Seattle. Just looking at summer league play, Durant is not afraid to take shots, even when theyre not falling, and I think his confidence will continue into the regular season. While Oden will be a major player for the Blazers, I see him “backing off” when it comes to the senior players on the team. He doesnt share the same aggressive attitude that Durant has shown.
