Paul Pierce Blows Dunk and Chris Paul Revives Him

The springs in Paul Pierce’s 39-year-old legs aren’t what they used to be.

Chris Paul came to his teammate’s aid Tuesday night in Brooklyn, shortly after Pierce clanked a wide-open fastbreak dunk—though, to be fair, a foul was called on the play.

The Nets handed the visiting LA Clippers their third loss in a row.

Per the OC Register:

Paul Pierce was sprawled out on the court Tuesday night in Brooklyn after his 39-year-old body failed him on a two-handed dunk attempt, the ball bounding off the back iron.

With the Clippers veteran down, Chris Paul raced over, not to help him up, but to perform mock chest compressions while the two players and the bench laughed.

One half, two overtimes and an ejection later, the smiles were gone, with the Clippers stunned and exhausted – 127-122 losers in double overtime – searching for someone or something to slap the paddles on their chest and resuscitate this disaster of a trip. […] “It’s kind of quiet, kind of dead,” center DeAndre Jordan said of the Clippers locker room postgame. “… We’ve got to get back to our ways. If not, it’s going to be a long season.”
