REPORT: Jonathan Issac Set to Play with Lakeland Magic Before He Makes His Return to the NBA

Jonathan Issac is reportedly set to play at least two games with Orlando’s G League affiliate as a stepping stone towards playing his first NBA game in two and a half seasons after he suffered a torn ACL on Aug. 2, 2020, during the NBA bubble season according to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

If things go well when he plays with the Lakeland Magic, Issac will be closer than ever to finishing his comeback attempt after all of the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

Issac has been practicing with the Magic since early December, per Woj.

The former Florida State Seminole has averaged 9.3 points, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals since he entered the NBA in 2017 as the sixth overall pick. He’s in the second season of a four-year $70 million contract and will be rejoining a Magic (15-26) team building around Paolo Banchero.
