Report: Minnesota Trades Corey Brewer to the Rockets

Timberwolves swingman Corey Brewer wasn’t on the trade block for very long; Minnesota reportedly agreed Friday to ship him to the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets will also acquire the injured Ronny Turiaf as part of the deal.

Brewer will be a backup for Trevor Ariza.

Per Yahoo! Sports:

Houston will send guard Troy Daniels to Minnesota as part of the Brewer deal, sources said. The Rockets will also give Minnesota a 2015 second-round pick – via Sacramento – and a future second-round pick.

Minnesota will send forward Ronny Turiaf to Houston with Brewer, but Turiaf could be moved to a third team, a source said. Turiaf recently had arthroscopic surgery on his right hip and will miss the remainder of the season.

To acquire Brewer, the Rockets used their trade exception from the Jeremy Lin trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. They wanted to complete the deal on Friday because it leaves them 60 days until the Feb. 19 trade deadline when Brewer would be eligible to be traded again.
