Stephen A. Smith Says There’s a ‘Big Possibility’ Kevin Durant Signs With Lakers

We have to preface all of this by saying it’s just a rumor. So don’t freak out. Also, it’s Stephen A. Smith, who Kevin Durant himself has had issues with in the past, so bear that in mind as well. On top of all that, KD has already shot down this rumor before. But here we go…

Smith said during a radio appearance with ESPN 710’s Mason and Ireland in LA this weekend that both Durant AND Russell Westbrook might end up on the Lakers together two summers from now.

Here are Smith’s comments, as transcribed by the LA Examiner:

“Keep in mind this, one of the biggest reasons I’m told, that Kevin Durant may have the Lakers at the top of his list, is because the Lakers have been led to believe, by whom specifically I do not know, but the Lakers have been led to believe that it is a very good chance that the following year Russell Westbrook is coming.”

“It’s a big possibility,” Smith said. “It’s a big possibility.”

“Make no doubt about it, Russell Westbrook doesn’t have a problem being in L.A.”

So basically, if you believe Stephen A. then there’s a legitimate chance Westbrook and Durant both join the Lakers by 2017. How much weight do you give this rumor?
