Steve Nash on Ben Simmons: ‘His Back is His Back. We’ve Got to Work Through This’

As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Sunday, Nets star Ben Simmons will not play tonight due to re-aggravating his back soreness that has kept him out since being traded to Brooklyn. The Nets officially listed Simmons as ‘out’ for Game 4 tonight.

“Of course we’re all disappointed, we’d love to see Ben on the floor with our team,” head coach Steve Nash says. “But I don’t want to be taken that I’m disappointed in Ben. His back is his back.”

This flareup in Simmons’ back injury occurred after Wojnarowski reported on Friday that Simmons was likely to play on Monday, but as Wojnarowski alluded, a setback did occur.

However, if the Nets win, Nash did not rule Simmons out stating, “I don’t know. I think It’s the same as I would’ve told you yesterday. We’ll see how he progresses, and see if there’s an opportunity for him to play at some point in the series if we go on.”

With Simmons sidelined, the Nets will look the keep the series alive as they’re currently down 3-0 against the Celtics. Game 4 will take place in Barclays Center with a 7:00 PM EST tip-off.
