Post Up: Knicks Knock Cats

by Holly MacKenzie / @stackmack

Well, another day, more Gil/Critt info to look into.

My facebook status is currently:

Sooooo Gil’d out right now. Two days, countless conversations, changed stories, possibilities, probabilities, sources, fact-checking, emails, reading, re-reading, re-writes and 1777 words later… I’M the one who needs the break. Of course, tomorrow there will be a new story to tell. This calls for a real SMH.

It’s all okay, though because my guy (and your guy, and SLAM’s guy forever), the one and only Scoop Jackson gave me the loveliest of shout outs on the radio here in Toronto yesterday. I didn’t know he was going on the show –and certainly didn’t know he was going to make my week– until people started sending me texts and DM/@replies on Twitter.

One day soon, I’ll write about the gift I’ve been given with respect to Scoop’s guidance. I feel like this column for this website is the appropriate place. Tonight though, I know I wouldn’t be able to do it justice.

There was only one NBA game on last night and it was between the Knicks and the Bobcats. Besides BETCats, how many of you all tuned in? I saw my guy Jax fall short in the Garden, but spent most of my night finishing the Gilbert piece that took just about everything out of me. I don’t know how it’s 3 a.m. already, but here it is. Our boy Tzvi is flying today and the weather is supposed to get a little messy, so keep him in your thoughts and lets hope together that he is successful in making it to his destination.

The Knicks won, 97-93 despite some sloppy play in the final seconds, including Nate Robinson picking up his seventh turnover in just 19 minutes off of the bench. Three 3-pointers in the final minutes saved them, one from Chris Duhon and two more from Danilo Gallinari to escape the game victorious against Charlotte.

I’d like a repeat of the Nate-show from Atlanta, please. With the Knicks bench contributing just 15 points,Wilson Chandler came up big, scoring 27 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists. Stephen Jackson had 26 for the Bobcats, but it took him 26 field goal attempts to get them. Gerald Wallace played all 48 minutes in this one.

New York won despite playing without Al Harrington who missed the game with a strained calf.

I guess the big news for everyone here is that Alabama won against Texas while I learned that NCAA Football can be kind of fun. I also absolutely loved Colt McCoy’s postgame interview. He was humble and sweet, congratulating Alabama again and again. I liked the guy. I don’t know much of anything about him (feel free to fill me in), but I liked him.

I read SI’s cover story about Mark Ingram last month, so of course it was nice to see him reach his goal.

And really guys, that’s about all I’ve got today.

Oh! Tracy. All-Star game. C’mon people. Whoever is voting this man in, kill it, k? Joke is up.

Happy Friday, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoys the time off. I’m hoping to get to the arena bright and early on Sunday to cacth Jesus Shuttlesworth shooting before the main lights are on. Here’s hoping.
