The Warriors and Their Lies

What a mess in Oakland.

At a hideous 21 games below .500, one would think that the Golden State Warriors’ on-the-court issues sufficed. And one would be wrong.

When not busy starting some hare-brained youth movement, the coach is threatening his players with ultimatums, and now, the front office is being accused of flat-out lying to the ticket buyers.

Monta Ellis, already upset with the team, says his latest absence had nothing to do with an injury (despite what his employer told everyone).

The San Fran Chronicle reports:

Two weeks ago, the Warriors announced that they were temporarily shutting Ellis down because of lingering stiffness in his surgically repaired ankle. On Monday, Ellis insisted the ankle was never an issue and still isn’t.

“My mom was sick. That’s why I took the time off,” said Ellis, who has missed the last seven games. “It had nothing to do with my ankle.”

Ellis did not practice Monday, while Nelson said the guard was awaiting medical clearance to rejoin practice. If that doesn’t jibe, it’s only typical of a Warriors season filled with flip-flops and about-faces.

Not to worry, Warriors fans. You only have to put up with this nonsense for a few more months; football season is right around the corner. Oh, wait
