Phoenix Suns‘ point guard Chris Paul, who just led his team to the Western Conference Finals, is facing Health and Safety protocols that may indefinitely sideline him for a period of time.
The team has announced that his status will be “updated and provided” on Saturday.
It is currently unknown whether the Sun’s guard has tested positive for COVID-19, or had come in close contact with someone that has it. Still, the news is unfortunate as it could affect his availability in the WCF.
Head coach Monty Williams wouldn’t give any additional details on his return:
“I’m not even going to go there until I have to, so there’s no reason for me to be pessimistic at all,” Williams said, per ESPN. “We just have to wait and see what’s going to happen.”
Paul, at 36, is currently averaging 15.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in the Suns’ last 10 playoff games. If he plays against either the Clippers or the Jazz, it will mark his second Western Conference Finals appearance in his career.
