Keegan Murray Named 2022 Summer League MVP

Former Iowa standout Keegan Murray has earned his first NBA accolade less than a month after being drafted by Sacramento with the No. 4 overall pick.

The 6-foot-8 swingman has been named the MVP of the 2022 NBA Summer League after averaging 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, two assists, and 1.3 steals per game in four games at the Las Vegas Summer League.

Murray was also an efficient shooter, making 50 percent of his field goal attempts and shooting 40 percent on 8.8 three-point attempts a game.

Last season at Iowa, Murray ranked fourth in the nation with 23.6 points per game, the highest among high-major players. The Iowa native also averaged 8.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 55.4 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from three-point range in his final season with the Hawkeyes.

Murray was selected to the All-Summer League First Team along with Quentin Grimes of the New York Knicks, Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets, Tari Eason of the Houston Rockets, and Sandro Mamukelashvili of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 2022 Consensus All-American will now focus on contributing to a Kings squad led by De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis after an impressive showing in Las Vegas. Murray, who has proved himself to be a versatile scorer and defender, will look to end Sacramento’s 16-year playoff drought this season.
