Kemba Walker on His Breakout Performance at the Garden: ‘I Was Waiting For That Moment’
From the minute Kemba Walker signed his two-year deal with the New York Knicks this past offseason, the Big Apple has been awaiting the Bronx native’s breakout performance in the Garden.
Last night, MSG saw their newest guard drop 19 points, 5 dimes and two steals while shooting 5-for-11 from three.
After a slow start, the Knicks quickly outscored Philly 39-16 in the second, with Kemba adding in 10 points, including a pair of threes and one of his signature step-backs that made him made a standout at the Garden during the 2011 Big East Tournament.
Knicks fans erupted for the hometown kid as the Knicks improved to 3-1 on the season by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers, 112-99.
“I was waiting for that moment. It was a kind of moment I’ve dreamed of when I was a young kid wanting to be in the NBA watching the Knicks play. Coming to a Knicks game and seeing how the crowd goes crazy,” Walker said of his four-straight shots in the second via SNY Knicks.
The win marks not only Kemba’s first signature moment in The Garden, but Knicks’ first win over the 76ers since 2017. New York will take on the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.
