Knicks’ Austin Rivers Could Be Popular Trade Target

After trading for Derrick Rose earlier this week, the New York Knicks have some additional decisions to make. Now that they have somewhat of a logjam at the point guard position, guys like Elfrid Payton and Austin Rivers might have less opportunity for playing time.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Rivers is likely to become a player whom “contenders seek in trade talks” as teams look to fortify backcourts closer to the March 25 trade deadline.

Rivers was signed this offseason by the Knicks to a three-year, $10 million contract and has been worth every penny thus far. As a spark off the bench this season, Rivers is averaging 8.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists on .364 from deep.

While the Knicks continue to make a push for the playoffs, additional moves could be made, starting at the point guard position.
