REPORT: Victor Oladipo Will Return to Miami

Despite Victor Oladipo competing in only four games for the Miami Heat last season, it was just enough for both sides to agree to a deal according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Wednesday. The terms of the deal were not released.

The signing could be considered a surprise due to Oladipo’s health after undergoing a second surgery in 28 months on his right quad in May.

The Heat will look for him to get back to the best two-way player that won the NBA’s Most Improved Player while making the All-NBA third-team and All-Defensive first-team in 2017-18.

Miami has been very busy since the free agency started. The Oladipo deal follows the Kyle Lowry sign and trade acquisition with the Toronto Raptors. Then they signed Jimmy Butler to a multi-year extension.

Victor was part of the huge four-team James Harden trade early last season. The Indiana Pacers dealt him to Houston, and at the trade deadline, Houston sent him to South Beach.

He averaged 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from deep across 33 games in 2020-21.
