Sixers Clinch No. 1 Spot For First Time Since 2000-01 Iverson-Led Team

The Philadelphia 76ers have come a long way from the days of trusting the process. In fact, they’re only five years removed from their ten-win season.

Now, they’ve completely shifted gears and have clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

“Every year we’ve gotten better,” said Joel Embiid after clinching. “This year, everything is fitting, everyone is on the same page.”

This is an extremely impressive accomplishment, outlasting the injured Brooklyn Nets to ensure they will have home court advantage throughout the entire playoffs.

This marks the first time Philadelphia has finished the regular season with the best record in the East since the Iverson-led Sixers did it in 2000-01. On the backs of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the Sixers have been consistent all season long, even through injuries and adversity.

Although they’ll end up just shy of 50 wins in this shortened 72-game season, this is the best Philadelphia 76ers team we’ve seen in quite some time. With superstar talent at the top and an extremely deep bench, the sky is the limit. As long as they stay healthy throughout the postseason, Philadelphia could make a lot of noise.
