Grant Williams To Declare For NBA Draft

Count junior forward Grant Williams among those interested in gauging his NBA Draft stock without compromising his NCAA eligibility. The Tennessee power forward announced in a school press conference that he’ll test the waters ahead of the May withdrawal deadline.

Williams had a productive season for the Volunteers in 2018-19, averaging 18.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He currently sits in the No. 17 spot on Tankathon’s NBA Draft Big Board.

Williams has played three seasons with the Volunteers, taking major strides between each and earning a pair of trips to the Sweet Sixteen. To thrive at the next level he’ll need to prove that he can match the size and athleticism of the NBA forwards he’ll be matched up against.

Williams will be able to participate in workouts and the NBA combine over the course of the next few weeks and will have until May 29 to withdraw his name from the draft if he chooses to return for his final season of NCAA eligibility.
