Nuggets to Sign Guard Troy Daniels

It didn’t take long for guard Troy Daniels to find a new team after he was waived by the Los Angles Lakers. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Daniels will sign with the Denver Nuggets. Daniels cleared waivers earlier in the day on Wednesday.

In 41 games with the Lakers this season, Daniels averaged 4.2 points per game on 35.7% shooting from behind the arc. Three-point shooting is why Denver is picking up Daniels, as he’s just under 40% from deep for his career.

The Nuggets see Daniels as a player who has a unique skillset in his shooting ability, but one who doesn’t need regular playing time. Denver has a fairly set 10-man rotation when all of their players are healthy.

Denver recently did a roster shuffle when they waived guard Jordan McRae. McRae had been acquired at the trade deadline. The Nuggets did a series of deals at the deadline to clear out some players at the back-end of their roster. Daniels will fill one of the Nuggets two open roster spots.
