Fractured Ankle Sidelines Andrew Bogut Indefinitely

Andrew Bogut had a feeling that there would be no good news once team doctors examined his ankle, and it turns out that he was right. Per the Journal Sentinel: “Andrew Bogut slumped back in his locker following the Milwaukee Bucks’ game in Houston on Wednesday night. The 7-foot center wore a resigned look on his face and believed he had suffered a serious injury to his left ankle. On Thursday, he was proved right. A magnetic resonance imaging exam performed in Milwaukee revealed Bogut had suffered a fractured left ankle when he leaped to block a shot and landed awkwardly on the foot of Houston guard Kyle Lowry. The Bucks announced late Thursday that Bogut would be out ‘indefinitely’ due to the injury, the latest setback for the often-injured 27-year-old Australian. With the Bucks playing 49 more games over the next three months in a compressed schedule due to the lockout, it’s certain Bogut will miss a huge chunk of those games and possibly all of them. The Bucks will go on with life after Bogut when they face the Chicago Bulls on Friday night at the United Center. ‘It’s a very unfortunate injury for Andrew,’ said Bucks general manager John Hammond. ‘Obviously we’ve been in this position before. Other people will have to step up.’ Hammond said the Bucks will ‘explore options’ at the center spot with the possibility of signing a player. Before training camp, the Bucks had considered adding veteran center Joel Przybilla.”
