A 76-Year-Old Man Tried Out for the Golden State Warriors’ D-League Affiliate (VIDEO)

The Golden State Warriors’ D-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, held an open tryout Sunday, and among the dozens of people who showed up were a 76-year-old professor named Don Wiberg and Bay Area rapper Lil B. Check out some footage from the tryout above (the old fella is featured at 0:51), and here’s a quick recap, courtesy of the Santa Cruz Sentinel: “This was the second and final local tryout for the Development League affiliate of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, and the most crowded. … D-League rules limit teams to inviting no more than five players from their local tryouts to participate in their 17-player training camp. But with the retention of players who competed last year for the Dakota Wizards — the name of the S.C. Warriors before they relocated to the West Coast — and the addition of players from the D-League draft, those training camp spots fill up quickly. … Towering, muscled men — many nearing or topping 7 feet — filled both courts. Shorter, speedier types complemented them with passes that seemed to come from outer space. Many had college experience at schools like Arizona State and Missouri State. Eleven, like San Diego State and Soquel High graduate Nash Collins, had prepped in Santa Cruz County, and six, including 2011-12 star Adrian Powell, played for Cabrillo College. Even popular and controversial Bay Area rapper Lil B spent the morning racing up and down the court.”
