Rick Ross on Kobe Bryant’s Retirement: ‘7 Years Too Late’ (VIDEO)

MMG rapper Rick Ross is a noted Miami Heat fan who has long been friends with ex-Heat superstar LeBron James and shares a bond with forever-Miami god Dwyane Wade. On Tuesday, Ross stopped by New York’s Hot97 for a wide-ranging interview that touches on just about everything.

But the part we care about starts around the 8:30 mark, when he’s asked about Kobe Bryant’s recent announcement that he plans to retire after this season. Rozay responds with: “For me it came maybe seven years too late.”

Ross added, “I love Kobe” and paid his respects to Bryant’s 20-year career, before saying that on the other hand, he’d stand up and cheer for Wade even if he rolled in the gym in a wheelchair.

It should be said, of course, that Kobe Bryant was a Finals MVP in both 2009 and 2010, winning back-to-back titles in those seasons and he was an All-NBA First Team selection as recently as 2013. So, yeah.
