Ty Lawson Torches the Lakers for 32 Points and 16 Assists (VIDEO)

Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson ran circles around the Los Angeles Lakers’ inept defense Tuesday night, scoring 28 of game-high 32 points in the second half of a 106-96 road win.

Lawson’s performance helped the Nuggets bring an end to a six-game losing streak.

The lightning-quick point guard scored 13 of Denver’s final 16 points to secure the W.

Per the Denver Post:

“Well, I’m happy for the first time in a long time,” coach Brian Shaw said after the Nuggets claimed just their second win since Jan. 14 — and their second over the Lakers at Staples this season. “We got that win, we got that gorilla off our backs, as they say. It was just a heck of a performance by Ty Lawson, who kind of put the team on his back. Not only did he facilitate [but he got] aggressive looking to score as well, and [he put up] 32 [points] and 16 [assists] to get us out of this rut. […] “We’ve been stuck in the mud for awhile now. It feels good to be back on the winning side, especially the last game going into the break.”

“It’s good to get that monkey off our back,” Lawson said. “We didn’t want to go into All-Star break with a seven-game losing streak, so it feels good. Everybody feels a little better, the steak’s are going to taste a little bit better for a little while, until we get back to the grind.”

“In the second half, we were getting layups and wide-open shots,” Lawson said. “That’s been our Achilles’ heel for most of the season, guys not knocking down wide-open shots. It’s good for us, and, hopefully, it keeps us going after the All-Stat break.”
