Five-Star Guard Tyus Battle Decommits From Michigan

Last month, the Michigan Wolverines picked up a huge commitment in the Class of 2016 when five-star guard Tyus Battle announced that he’s headed to Ann Arbor. Well, it’s been a month, and Battle has changed his mind. On Friday, the New Jersey native and No. 19 player in the class announced that he has decommitted from Michigan. There’s no word when Battle plans on announcing where he will head to next year—and it is important to note that he could always end back up with the Wolverines—but he did announce that he is visiting Syracuse this weekend.

From Scout:

Tyus Battle is taking an official visit to Syracuse and reopening his recruitment, sources told Scout on Friday.

Battle, a five-star prospect, had committed to Michigan on May 11th over Duke, Louisville, Syracuse and Ohio State. Battle had originally scheduled a visit to Syracuse, but canceled it when he committed to John Beilein.

Following the Syracuse visit, Battle would have one official trip remaining, as he has already taken trips to Duke, Louisville and Michgan.

A 6-foot-6 wing, Battle is ranked No. 19 overall in the 2016 class and is recognized as one of the best scorers in the class.
