French Montana Says He Once Scored 30 Points vs. Jarrett Jack in AAU Ball

You can spot French Montana courtside at NBA games pretty often, and he’s even been known to take a couple warm-up jumpers before tipoff (we witnessed it first-hand at All-Star Weekend 2014 in New Orleans) when he’s feeling good. And while plenty of rappers like to boast about their hoop skills, French claims to have really been a beast on the court.

In a recent interview French, who just dropped his latest mixtape, Casino Life 2, even claimed to have lit up current Nets guard Jarrett Jack in his AAU days.

“I played an AAU game against Jarret Jack and about four other guys who ended up in the league and I dropped like 30 points on ‘em,” the rapper told USA TODAY Sports.

Jason Jordan: I always like to hear about the sports backgrounds and experiences of all of my guests on the Celeb Chop-Up; I know you’re from Morocco, what sports did you play coming up?

French Montana: I played futbol, which of course is what they call soccer over there. I played basketball too.

JJ: What kind of game did you have on the court?

FM: I was more flashy with the handles; I’d try to show off on the fast breaks with the dunks, you know, that kind of game.

JJ: Were you out there catching bodies with the posters?

FM: (Laughs) Nah, I wouldn’t say I was catching bodies, but I was definitely catching dunks on the breaks and things like that.

JJ: Can you still dunk now?

FM: (Laughs) I doubt that! Maybe… I’d have to play for like a week straight to get right.

JJ: Give me your shining moment on the court?

FM: I played an AAU game against Jarret Jack and about four other guys who ended up in the league and I dropped like 30 points on ‘em.

JJ: I’ve had a lot of rappers claim the No. 1 spot among rappers that also hoop, where do you fall?

FM: (Laughs) I don’t know because I’ve only played against a couple of ‘em; I played against Master P, J. Cole, 2 Chainz and Waka. They all can play.
