FSU Freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes Declared Ineligible for the Season

Just this past spring, the chances of Canadian studs Andrew Wiggins and Xavier Rathan-Mayes suiting up for Florida State this upcoming season seemed to be relatively high. Fast-forward to today and neither will be playing for the Seminoles after the NCAA announced this afternoon that Rathan-Mayes, a 6-2 shooting guard out of Huntington Prep (WV) via Canada, will be ineligible for the upcoming season. From CBS Sports: “Florida State freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes will not be eligible for the upcoming season, head coach Leonard Hamilton announced Monday. Hamilton said Rathan-Mayes did not get through the NCAA Clearinghouse. Sources tell CBSSports.com that the NCAA did not accept a full year of credits he took at a high school in North Carolina. Rathan-Mayes previously attended Christian Faith Center Academy (N.C.). Florida State is continuing to work with the NCAA to get the issue resolved.”
