George Mason coach Paul Hewitt has suspended redshirt junior forward Anali Okoloji for stomping South Florida’s Anthony Collins on Thursday evening.

The length of Okoloji’s suspension is unknown, but according to a press release, he will at least miss the team’s games in this weekend’s BB&T Classic. Okoloji is averaging 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game this season, and has played in all eight of the team’s games.

From Yahoo Sports:

“Anali’s actions in Wednesday’s game were inexcusable and not what we expect from a George Mason student-athlete,” Hewit said in a statement.

The press release from the school said Okoloji’s suspension will include the BB&T Classic on Sunday against Oklahoma.

Okoloji earned a personal and technical foul on the play and his actions led to South Florida scoring six points on one trip down the floor when George Mason was leading by 12. The play ended up playing a major part in South Florida’s comeback.

George Mason lost to its game to South Florida, 68-66. The Patriots are 5-3 on the season. An Instagram video of Okoloji’s stomp can be found here.
