Gerald Green Hospitalized Following ‘Commotion’

by November 05, 2015

The Miami Heat put out a tersely-worded statement Wednesday announcing that guard Gerald Green had been hospitalized, and head coach Erik Spoelstra said the team is glad he’s safe and healthy today.

According to multiple reports, the 29-year-old ended up in the hospital after some kind of incident at his home.

The Heat inked Green this past summer to a one-year, $1.4 million deal.

Per TMZ and the Miami Herald:

Multiple witnesses at the condo tell us Green was acting strange in the lobby of the condo … screaming at the top of his lungs. […] We’re told from several people that there was a huge commotion and it took several people — including emergency personnel — to restrain Green and get him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

We obtained the (911) call … made Wednesday morning … in which the caller tells 911, “I have a resident that just passed out. He’s bleeding. He just passed out right now.” […] The operator informs the caller that help is on the way — and gives instructions on how to treat Green until emergency personnel arrives.

Green, 29, was not arrested, according to the city of Miami police department. […] Police call logs show that police were summoned to the Marquis Residences Condominium, at 1100 Biscayne Blvd., at 10:46 a.m. Wednesday because of a “male down.” Green was inactive for Tuesday’s game against the Hawks with an undisclosed “illness.”
