Grizzlies Stand Behind Zach Randolph

Despite the mounting legal troubles for their power forward, Memphis says they’re fully behind him. For now, at least. From the Commercial Appeal: “The Grizzlies reacted Thursday with a show of support for Randolph. ‘Due to the ongoing police investigation, we do not feel it would be appropriate to comment further,’ Griz general manager Chris Wallace said in a statement. ‘Unless some other information surfaces, Zach remains a valued member of the Grizzlies family and Memphis community.’ Wallace focused on Randolph’s most celebrated season as a pro and pointed out that the Grizzlies’ record-setter is in Los Angeles working out with members of the team’s staff. ‘Since Zach Randolph joined this organization, he has been an active member of the Memphis community and embraced our core values of hard work and leadership,’ Wallace said. ‘These qualities helped him develop into an NBA All-Star this season and guided one of the NBA’s youngest teams to a 16-game improvement.’ Raymond Brothers, Randolph’s Los Angeles-based agent, declined comment. Asked if Randolph faced disciplinary action because of the reports, an NBA spokesman said the league will monitor the situation.”
