Hedo Turkoglu Out Minimum of Four Weeks After Hand Surgery

Not that the Orlando Magic will be competing for a title this season either way, but the services of Hedo Turkoglu certainly wouldn’t hurt much. Bad news, though: Turk will be sidelined at least a month or so after he underwent right hand surgery. The Orlando Sentinel has the report: “Hedo Turkoglu will miss at least four weeks after he underwent surgery this morning to repair a broken bone in his left hand, Orlando Magic officials said. The veteran small forward fractured the fifth metacarpal during the third quarter of the team’s season-opener Friday night. Turkoglu now has undergone surgery twice in the last seven months. In April, he suffered a broken left cheekbone when he was elbowed accidently in a game. Turkoglu said that injury was the worst of his career, but he secured teammates’ respect when he returned to the court three weeks after the procedure. The Magic are especially short-handed at small forward now. Turkoglu is a starter, and normally he’d be backed-up by a pair of rookies, 19-year-old Maurice Harkless and 22-year-old DeQuan Jones.”
