Hoops 4 Hope To Host A Special Evening On Broadway

Hoops 4 Hope, a non-profit organization that works with kids in South Africa and Zimbabwe to teach life skills and mentorship, will be in New York City on April 24th for its official spring fundraiser. The organization is no stranger to SLAM, and they have been working with the producers of Magic/Bird—a new Broadway play about the rivalry-turned-friendship between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird—to secure a very special evening on Broadway.

About the Show:

At the heart of one of the fiercest rivalries in sports, two of the greatest athletes of all-time battled for multiple championships and the future of their sport.  Hall of Famers Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird could not have been more different; one black, one white; one an urbanite with a big smile and Hollywood appeal, and the other a quiet small town guy.  Johnson and Bird went head to head, electrified the nation, reinvigorated the NBA, and turned their rivalry into the greatest and most famous friendship in professional sports.  With classic NBA footage prominently showcased throughout, Magic/Bird transports the audience into the heart of their matchup. From Draft to Olympic Dream Team, the show with a six member cast will premiere at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway, New York City, March 21, 2012.

Brought to you by the Producers and Creators of Lombardi on Broadway, this new play was crafted through conversations with Magic and Bird. For more information on the show, please click here.
