Jared Jeffries: ‘I Should Have Shot the Ball’

‘Melo along with every Knick fan on the planet couldn’t believe Jared Jeffries didn’t go up when he got the ball near the hoop in the game’s dying moments last night, as his panicky turnover nullified Anthony’s heroic performance and cost New York a miracle win in Boston. From the NY Post: “Carmelo Anthony couldn’t hide his exasperation withJared Jeffries once again. After Anthony executed the final play in getting the ball inside, Melo appeared frustrated when Jeffries, instead of going up for the layup, tried bouncing a pass in the lane for Bill Walker, who was 0-for-10 at the time. The pass was blocked by Kevin Garnett, who pounced on it with 4.1 seconds left and called time. As Jeffries walked toward the Knicks’ bench, Anthony could be seen gesturing at him. Afterward, Anthony made it clear what he wanted Jeffries to do. ‘I thought Jared was going to lay it up, he thought he had a pass underneath,’ he said. ‘That’s here nor there.’ Jeffries agreed. ‘Looking at the tape,’ he said, ‘I should have shot the ball.'”
