Jason Smith Has Season-Ending Knee Surgery

The New Orleans Pelicans announced Monday that center Jason Smith is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on Wednesday, Jan. 29 to remove a loose piece of articular cartilage in the non-weight bearing area of his right knee. From the press release:

In 31 games this season, Smith averaged 9.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 26.8 minutes per game. The Colorado State product has appeared in 331 contests in six NBA seasons, averaging 6.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 16.7 minutes per game.
