John Wall’s Hand Swelling Minimal, Still Unsure If He’ll Play vs Hawks

Washington Wizards head coach Randy Wittman reported Tuesday that All-Star point guard John Wall now has minimal swelling in his injured left hand, but there’s still no telling if Wall will play again in the second round Playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.

Wall, who has sat out the last three games since suffering five non-displaced fractures in his left wrist and hand, but plans to test them out by continuing to dribble around prior to Game 5 Wednesday night.

Per the AP:

The Wizards practiced at Georgia Tech on Wednesday morning with a black curtain covering the glass doors to the gym. Wall said he did “a little more dribbling” and also took some hits to the hand to test the pain. He said he has “a very high pain threshold.”

Wall said he plans to again test his wrist and hand and consult with team doctors before Wednesday night’s game. […] “See how I can make moves with the dribble,” he said. “That’s the key, being able to make moves that I feel comfortable with, that I’m used to making.”

“It’s a matter of do I feel confident,” Wall said. “You can be comfortable no matter what, but if you’re not confident in your ability to do what you want to do, there’s no point in playing. Hopefully I can get some more work in before the game to see where my mindset is and how confident I feel in it because I don’t want to be out there and not be any help. … If I can’t go out there and be confident and be myself, I don’t want to take away from the way the team has been playing.”
