Kevin Durant: Oklahoma City is ‘Home’

by March 21, 2016

During a fundraising event Sunday night, Kevin Durant gave OKC a shoutout and called it “home”.

The Thunder superstar will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and there’s been unrelenting speculation about what his future plans are.

KD, through his charitable organization, will build and renovate a second court at North Highland Elementary School in Oklahoma City and courts across the U.S.

Per The Oklahoman:

“We just want to do our justice by giving back to the less fortunate,”’ Durant said. “That’s how I was raised. That’s what my mom taught me, my grandmother taught me … to give back. […] I’ve been blessed with so much, I want to be a blessing to someone else.”

Following a road trip in which Durant was peppered with questions about his affinity for big cities such as Boston and Philadelphia, on the red carpet — with his mother by his side — Durant reiterated his appreciation for Oklahoma City and why he’s giving back.

“It’s home,” Durant said. “I’ve always felt that this place meant so much to me. It has a special place in my heart and my family’s heart as well. [ …] It’s been great this year, and we’re looking forward to doing more and more.”
