Kings Trade Ray McCallum to the Spurs

In light of Cory Joseph’s free agency departure, the San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings have reportedly come to terms on a swap of guard Ray McCallum for a future second-round draft pick.

McCallum, 24, will battle Tony Parker and Patty Mills for minutes next season.

He posted averages of 7.4 points and 2.8 assists in 68 games for the Kings in 2014-15.

Per ESPN:

The San Antonio Spurs, as part of their ongoing roster restructuring, have struck a deal to acquire Sacramento Kings point guard Ray McCallum, according to league sources.

The Spurs had to renounce the rights to Joseph as part of their push to create the needed salary-cap space to sign LaMarcus Aldridge away from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Joseph came to terms on a new deal earlier this week with the Toronto Raptors.
