Orlando Magic Sign Kyle O’Quinn to 3-Year, $2.5 Million Deal

Former Norfolk State big man and NCAA Tournament hero Kyle O’Quinn has made his NBA dream a reality, signing a three-year contract with the Orlando Magic. The first year is fully guaranteed, with the Magic holding team options for the second and third seasons. The Orlando Sentinel has the details: “‘It’s pretty emotional,’ O’Quinn told the Orlando Sentinel on Wednesday night. ‘It’s kind of like the final stage to all the work you’ve put in. It’s another big day.’ O’Quinn, who grew up in Queens, was not recruited heavily out of high school. He attended Norfolk State, the only college that offered him a scholarship, and was named the 2011-12 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a senior. The Magic were one of the 12 teams that did not work out O’Quinn prior to June’s draft. But Magic general manager Rob Hennigan and Magic assistant general manager Scott Perry already knew him well. O’Quinn had worked out for the Oklahoma City Thunder when Hennigan worked for the Thunder as an assistant general manager.”
