San Antonio Spurs Trade Tiago Splitter To Atlanta Hawks

The Spurs have traded Tiago Splitter to the Hawks, according to a Yahoo report. Clearing Splitter’s contract gives San Antonio the cap space to make a run at LaMarcus Aldridge.

In order to afford Splitter, the Hawks are reportedly letting DeMarre Carroll sign with Toronto. More to come.

The San Antonio Spurs have traded center Tiago Splitter to the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

After gaining a commitment on a four-year deal with Danny Green, the Spurs are clearing the necessary cap space to sign All-Star free agent LaMarcus Aldridge of Portland.

The Spurs are unloading the two years, $16.75 million left on Splitter’s deal.

With the acquisition of Splitter, the Hawks have added insurance should power forward Paul Millsap leave in free agency. He’s strongly considering an offer from the Magic.

The Hawks have the salary cap space to absorb Splitter’s contract.
