Sonny Weems Signs 3-Year Deal in Russia

Former NBA swingman Sonny Weems, who took his talents to Lithuania during last season’s lockout, has signed a three-year deal with CSKA Moscow. RIA.ru has the details: “Weems is a replacement for Andrei Kirilenko, who signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and Ramunas Siskauskas, who retired this summer, CSKA president Andrei Vatutin said on the team’s website. Weems said he didn’t regret not returning to the NBA after joining Lithuania’s Zalgiris Kaunas during last season’s lockout. ‘I will say this: CSKA is a top European team, which is well known in the U.S., so I don’t see a huge difference,’ Weems said on the team’s website. Weems, 26, made a total of 140 NBA appearances for Denver and Toronto before moving to Zalgiris, where he stayed for the rest of the season.”
