Stan Van Gundy Fined $25,000 for Calling Out the Refs

The NBA gave Detroit Pistons head coach and team prez Stan Van Gundy a $25K slap on the wrist Monday night, this after criticizing the officiating during his team’s 106-101 Game 1 road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

SVG alleges that Cavs superstar LeBron James “gets to do what he wants”, and unfairly doesn’t get whistled for offensive fouls.

LBJ finished with 22 points and 11 assists in the first round opener.

Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy has been fined $25,000 for public criticism of officiating, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

 

Van Gundy made his comments in a live television interview during the Pistons’ 106-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 17 at Quicken Loans Arena.
