Xavier has signed men’s basketball coach Chris Mack to a two-year contract extension that takes him through the 2019-20 season.

Athletic director Greg Christopher praised the 44-year-old coach for the way he has steered the program in his first five seasons, which have featured four NCAA tournaments with Sweet 16s in 2010 and 2012.

“I absolutely believe Chris is the right person and we’re headed in the right direction,” Christopher said. “I think people take for granted that we’ve had three decades of success and this program is built the right way. And I think people take Chris for granted a little bit. He’s a Cincinnati guy. He’s an alum. I want him to understand, and I’ve told him, that we’re never going to take him for granted.”

After just five seasons at Xavier, Mack ranks fourth on the progam’s all-time wins list with a 111-57 record.
