Lynx to Retire Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson’s Jerseys

The Minnesota Lynx has released the dates for the jersey retirement ceremonies of Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson. Augustus will have her No. 33 on May 29 while Brunson’s No. 32 will be retired on July 3. There jerseys will be the second and third numbers that the Lynx will retire in franchise history.

The first number Minnesota retired was Lindsay Whalen’s No. 13.

Augustus is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks, and will make her return to Target later this month when the Sparks and Lynx face off on May 29. She was the first overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft. Augustus played a pivotal role in the Lynx winning four championships (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) during the teams historic run last decade.

She left Minnesota as the franchise leader in points (5,881), made field goals (2,401), games played (370), and games started (365).

Brunson is a WNBA record five-time WNBA champion, winning four of those titles in Minnesota. She is currently serving as an assistant coach on the Lynx coaching staff. She was acquired by Minnesota from Sacremento in 2009 WNBA dispersal draft. Brunson appeared in 261 Lynx games, scored 2,463 points, collected 276 steals, blocked 174 shots, and recorded 56 double-doubles.

Brunson left Minnesota as the franchise leader in total (2,158), defensive (1,470), and offensive rebounds (688).

The Lynx will host the New York Liberty on Tuesday night.
