Stefanie Dolson Reflects on the Liberty’s First Playoff Game At Barclays

The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty are on a collision course for a series-deciding Game 3 on Tuesday. The reigning champs (Chicago) had to blow out the upstart Liberty in Game 2 to tie up the series at one game apiece.

The Liberty will be playing their first playoff home game at Barclays Center since relocating to Brooklyn in 2019. The game will feature a half-time performance by Brooklyn-bred rapper Fivio Foreign. The Liberty (16-20) finished with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference and the seventh seed in the ongoing WNBA playoffs.

The Liberty ascended to a playoff contender with the hiring of a new head coach, Sandy Brondello, the emergence of Sabrina Ionescu into a triple-double threat, and the free agent signing of Stefanie Dolson. Dolson brings a championship veteran presence to the New York locker room. The UConn alum won her first championship in 2021 as a member of the Chicago Sky.

It’s really important.” Dolson said about leading the Liberty into their first playoff home game at Barclays. “It’s really special for the fans to be able to experience that and to be here. So, hopefully, we just give them a good show. And win for them because that’s obviously the goal.”

Dolson has averaged 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on 42.9 percent shooting from the field so far in the playoffs.
