Summer in the City, Vol. 3

Last Saturday night, our bloggers from the New York Liberty (whose last post is right here) played in an historic event at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens: the first-ever professional basketball game played outside. The game, which was dubbed the Outdoor Classic, was recapped thoroughly by WNBA.com, but we figured you all might want to see what some of the participants have to say about it. What did you fans think of the Outdoor Classic? Let us know below.

Jessica Davenport:

Hey…

Unfortunately we couldn’t pull off a win to cap a the great Outdoor Classic, but with every loss there is a lesson to be learned and I know we learned it. I don’t blame the outdoors for our loss because Indiana played out there too so there’s really no excuse.

But anyways, it was still great to be part of such an event. I’d like to thank all the people who put in all the hard work to make it possible for us to even have an opportunity. It was great from all the fan support that we had and I think we gained some “new Liberty fans” through all the exposure that was given to the game….

So I guess I failed to mention that I’m finally healthy and playing again. I’m so excited to be back on the court with my girls. It’s been hard going so long without playing, now I just need to knock off all this rust that I have:).
Slowly but surely, people. Until next time.—jd50

Loree Moore:

Hey Y’all!

I just thought I would check in w/you after our Outdoor Classic so I can share some of my experience w/you. To those of you who were not a part of the 18,000+ fans in attendance, I’d like to take this time to paint a short picture of what this Outdoor Classic was like. There is one word to describe it…AMAZING!

The Liberty staff did a great job on planning one of the most memorable events in basketball history. There was so much energy and enthusiasm from the fans that it made me feel proud to be a part of that experience. I would be a part of all of that again in a heartbeat. If I could change one thing it would be that my team would come out with the win. But rest assured…we will get that momentum back. It was great and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks to all that put the event together, it will definitely be talked about for years to come.

Much love.—Loree
