LeBron James Has the Most Assists By a Forward in NBA History (VIDEO)

LeBron James’ history-making week continues — King James passed Scottie Pippen for the most assists by a forward in NBA history Tuesday night, in a 103-92 Cleveland Cavaliers road win against the Detroit Pistons.

LBJ now has 6,138 dimes in his career; Pip retired with 6,135 assists in the books.

James compared the accomplishment to winning a title.

Per the Akron Beacon Journal:

“Probably one of the greatest achievements I’ve had in my career, up there with winning a championship for sure,” James said. “I’ve always took a lot of pride and I get more of a rush seeing my teammates succeed more than myself, and that’s what assists are all about. I was taught the game the right way and seeing my teammates succeed is always been something that I’ve cared about more than anything.”

James grew up idolizing Michael Jordan, but he never thought he could reach that level, so he aimed his focus on guys like Pippen, Penny Hardaway and Allen Iverson because he thought that was more realistic. Now he is well past them and on his way to the all-time legends. […] “Assists for me is something that’s very cool, it’s something that’s always kind of driven me out on the basketball floor,” James said. “Seeing my guys succeed, and to know the category I was in with like Bird and Pippen, it’s huge.”

“Once again I’m at a lost for words really! For me this goes right at the top with winning a championship because I’ve always love seeing the success of my teammates!! Seeing my teammates score always meant more to me than me scoring! I can’t do anything without those guys every single night. Their hardwork, dedication, professionalism, etc, etc has put me in the position I am today and this is my way of saying THANK YOU to every teammate I’ve ever had(past, present, future) #StriveForGreatness”
