Anthony Davis Day-to-Day With Stress Reaction in Left Ankle

New Orleans Hornets rookie big man Anthony David sat out last night’s game against the New York Knicks due to a left ankle injury, and there’s no telling when he’ll be back on the court. Per the Times-Picayune: “New Orleans Hornets announced before Tuesday night’s game against the New York Knicks that rookie forward Anthony Davis is sidelined with a stress reaction in his left ankle. He likely will miss Wednesday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers although Coach Monty Williams said Davis is listed as day to day. Davis’ stress reaction is caused by a tenderness in the bone of his ankle. If he continues to play with a stress reaction, it could lead to him having a more serious stress fracture injury. Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the June NBA draft, missed two games earlier this season because of a mild concussion. ‘We’ll just figure it out as we go along, but it’s something that we’re going to be cautious about,” Williams said. ‘But he’s going to be out. He probably had some kind of discomfort that they (team doctors) thought they needed to get more information on and get another opinion on before we put him back on the floor.” For the third time in four days, Davis tweaked his left ankle during Monday’s practice at the Alario Center. Davis said he initially tweaked his ankle early in the first quarter in last Friday night’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Davis said he tweaked his left ankle again in the second quarter during last Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.”
