The New Orleans Pelicans announced Wednesday that guard Eric Gordon is sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks after undergoing surgery on his fractured right ring finger.

Gordon was hurt Tuesday night in the Pels’ win against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves.

The hits just keep on coming for N.O.

Per the Times-Picayune:

Gordon suffered the injury during the third quarter after grabbing a rebound in Tuesday night’s 114-99 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Smoothie King Center. […] New Orleans could make a push to acquire a replacement for Gordon until he returns. After Tuesday’s game Alvin Gentry didn’t know what the Pelicans’ next step would be.

The Pelicans did not practice on Wednesday and there is a chance that either guard Norris Cole or Jrue Holiday could start alongside Tyreke Evans in the backcourt for Thursday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons. […] With his contract expiring after this season, Gordon was the only Pelicans’ player to start 40 of the first 41 games. Gordon ranked eighth in the NBA with 98 3-pointers made and was the Pelicans’ fourth-leading scorer with a 15.0 average.

“It’s a pretty big injury, but again our team is going have to step up and fight through adversity again,” Holiday said.
