Patrick Beverley Expected Out 4 Months, Becomes Free Agent July 1

The Rockets may be 50-24, but they will be entering the playoffs without the services of point guard Patrick Beverley, who is recovering from season-ending surgery to repair a ligament in his left wrist. Beverley went under the knife earlier today, and is reportedly expected to be in a cast for 10 weeks, with a full recovery time of roughly four months.

With that time table in place, he should be nearing 100 percent around July 1, when he officially becomes an unrestricted free agent. According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, Beverly will have plenty of suitors come July, even with the surgery. Details:

Beverley’s ligament had to be reattached, a procedure that crushed a fleeting hope before the surgery that a two-month recovery period could’ve had Beverley back for the Western Conference Finals – if the Rockets advanced that far.

Beverley, 26, is expected to be in a cast for 10 weeks and expected to be near full recovery when he becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1. Houston remains determined to re-sign Beverley to a long-term deal, but there will be plenty of interest from other teams to pry him away.
