Report: LeBron Won’t Talk Contract With Cavs Until Tristan Thompson’s Deal is Done
LeBron James opted out of his player-option exactly one week ago, making him an unrestricted free agent. All indications are that he intends to return to the Cavaliers, especially since Cleveland has locked up both Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert. But so far, LeBron hasn’t had any contract talks with the Cavaliers at all. And according to a report, LeBron doesn’t plan to do so at all until Tristan Thompson gets his deal done.
Thompson and James share the same agent, and while Thompson was rumored to be nearing a deal worth more than $80 million, nothing’s been finalized and in fact contract talks have stalled.
From Brian Windhorst of ESPN:
Cavs indeed have interest in David West. But LeBron James has no plans to communicate with anyone while still a free agent, sources said.

To that end, James doesn't plan to start talks with Cavs until Tristan Thompson's deal is settled. Currently those talks are stalled.
